BankSA has introduced a Pay to Mobile feature through its mobile banking App which allows customers to make everyday payments to another person simply by entering their mobile phone number.
The Pay to Mobile is available across iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7 smartphones and is integrated into the existing BankSA mobile banking App, which is already known and trusted by customers.
BankSA reports 600,000 log-ins per month via mobile banking and operates a mobile banking app for the most popular smartphones.
Pay to Mobile users enter the mobile phone number of the person they would like to pay and hit transfer. There is no need for the user to notify the recipient, as the App notifies the recipient of the funds transfer and lets them know what they need to do to collect their money.
The recipient is directed to a secure website and inputs BSB and account details to collect their funds.
“As a result of the enormous growth in the popularity of smartphones, South Australians are now more connected than ever before,” says BankSA MD, Jane Kittel.
“BankSA is experiencing strong growth in the use of our mobile banking App. We anticipate that over the next 18 months, mobile banking usage could overtake traditional online banking as the preferred customer channel.”
Jane says giving customers the option to transfer funds by using the recipient’s mobile phone number alone means they no longer need someone’s bank account details to make a payment.
“The Pay to Mobile service gives customers a highly secure option which enables them to do their banking wherever and whenever they choose. People are leading busy lives and the convenience this offers will help our customers to manage their finances,” she says.
The BankSA mobile banking App allows customers to check their account balances, next repayment dates and scheduled payments before using Pay to Mobile to send funds to a friend or family member.
“We’re delighted to offer our customers this market-leading Pay to Mobile feature and we intend to announce further innovations in mobile banking soon,” Jane Kittel says.
St George Banking Group is making a $10 million investment in mobile banking innovation and subsidiary, BankSA is planning to release a series of new mobile banking developments during the next six months.
Pay to Mobile is available now through the latest release of the BankSA mobile banking App, which has improved mobile banking log in and transaction speed by 30% to 40%.
